EDH - THE EVERY DAY HUMAN
This is the term I give to everyone who is trying to be a high performer is some part of their life whether it be for themselves, their family, their work, their million other commitments in life. Those without a big sports contract, and those without a team.
They are the everyday people who care about how THEY move and feel...or sometimes how they DON'T move and how shitty they feel!
But that’s what makes JOGA so awesome for the EDH!
The JOGA program was originally designed for pro athletes, it takes into consideration past injuries and tightly bound bodies with modifications already built into the program.
That BENEFITS everyone!
If that means we work from the foundational pieces of the program, then that’s what we do. If that means we have different levels where people can work from, then that’s what we do.
No pressure to be ‘Bendy Brenda’ or ‘Flexible Frank’, we don’t care if you can’t touch your toes.
There is no pressure to DO THINGS like the instructor...cause I’ve come a looong way and still have my movement issues. I am a WIP, a Work in Progress, baby!
It’s about finding the areas you need to work on more.
Its about self assessing where you are at.
It’s about learning something to take and use elsewhere in your daily life.
Strength, stability, and mobility are the foundations, but many athletes AS WELL AS THE EDH are unable to get into certain yoga postures, so the focus is on individual ranges of motion. Stabilization is key. The reward at the end is the sense of accomplishment and learning how we can move better.
The breath work we do in our Joga program has many applications for stress management and a positive mindset.
For the EDH, it can be about discovering how to take a full breath, FOR REAL.
It can be about helping to be more creative or productive.
For the EDH, it can be a tool to diffuse a work or home situation that can cost a relationship, or it can be about remembering the task at hand and being fully present.
For the EDH, It can be about our own awareness and how we breathe or lack of, that can create patterns of stress and anxiety, and it can become a tool in the toolbox to share with others.
If you're still thinking about it, here's a simple thought..even the Pros have areas they need to work on.
The only pressure is to show up.
