Joga is a movement system made up of the benefits of yoga combined with functional movement patterns that we perform everyday. Joga is different than a traditional yoga program. We use a combination of dynamic and static stretching as opposed to long traditional holds. Joga has three components: Posture Postures are designed to incorporate flexibility while challenging balance and core strength. The queuing uses anatomical language that fits the health and physical education curriculum, we do not use spiritual language. Postures and movements are designed to create success for everyone. Breathing We use techniques that coordinate breath with movement. When students learn to breathe properly they learn tools to self regulate behavior. Relaxation Restorative positions are used to encourage the mind to remain calm an non reactive. When the mind is calm we ease anxiety and stress.
